Sofa disposal and couch removal in Singapore
Move Move assesses old sofa disposal for armchairs, two- and three-seater couches, L-shaped sofas, sectionals, sofa beds and recliners. The seat count is a starting point, not the whole quotation: dimensions, detachable sections, mechanisms and access determine the removal plan.
L-shaped and sectional sofas
Show the layout and connection points. Count each module and state whether you know how the sections separate. A sectional that can be carried in parts differs from a single rigid frame.
Sofa beds and recliners
Identify the folding bed or reclining mechanism, including whether it is manual or electric. Show accessible connections and loose components; do not assume a mechanism can be removed safely without assessment.
If the sofa is being kept, arrange furniture moving rather than disposal. If other furniture is going too, include it in the same inventory so the quotation does not cover only the couch.

2026 ordinary-disposal reference, GST included. It includes 2–3 movers, a tailgate lorry and simple dismantling where needed. The accepted items, trolley count and final amount must be confirmed from complete photos or an item list and a written quotation.
A trolley rate is not a per-item promise
One seat is not one trolley load. A two-seater, a heavy recliner and a sectional split into several modules can need different handling. Include all sections and the full access route before treating a starting rate as your sofa disposal price.
Separately assessed: loose-item packing, stairs, carrying heavy items over more than two doorsteps, safes or dangerous goods, condo pushing distances over 100 metres, basement pushing, lift exchange, complex dismantling and any unconfirmed scope or access condition. Do not assume these are covered by the reference rate.
To compare quotations fairly, use the same inventory and access details. Ask which dismantling and carry-out work is included, what would change the total, and which collection window has been confirmed.

Send photos and a list of the items you want removed. We assess the load, then confirm the trolley count, accepted items and any agreed dismantling or access charges in the written quotation. A missing measurement need not stop your first enquiry; tell us what you know and we will clarify what is still needed.

Check whether the sofa can leave the room
Measure the complete sofa
Send width, depth and height, plus each module’s approximate size if it separates. Show protruding arms, feet and the chaise section.
Show connections and mechanisms
Photograph detachable legs, module connectors and recliner or sofa-bed parts where accessible. Ask what dismantling is included; avoid forcing or cutting the frame yourself.
Photograph every tight turn
Include the living-room exit, door grille, corridor corners, lift opening and interior. For stairs, show landings and turns as well as the stair width.
Confirm the carry-out plan
If the sofa cannot fit the lift, a staircase carry may need separate assessment. Share the floor, loading distance and building restrictions before confirming a collection.
A photo of the lift door is not the whole route
A long couch may pass through an opening but still be unable to turn in the corridor or lift. Send a short sequence of route photos, not just a single measurement. The planning illustration above shows what to check; it does not establish that any particular sofa will fit.
HDB flat
Show the route from the room to the lift, including door grilles, corridor turns and any steps. For a walk-up unit, include each staircase and landing; indoor carry-out is part of the assessment.
Condominium
Check management requirements, permitted work hours, service-lift and loading-bay bookings. Tell us about basement access, lift changes and long pushing distances before the quote is agreed.
Landed home
Show internal stairs, gates and the distance to a suitable loading point. A ground-floor address does not necessarily mean the item has a clear, level route out.

The published hostel disposal project included beds, wardrobes and sofas. Dismantling was carried out upstairs and loading coordinated below; the site had room for only one skip at a time.

How to dispose of an old sofa: private collection or another route?
Town Council bulky-item collection
For an HDB home, check your Town Council’s current eligibility, item limits, booking dates and collection point. Ask specifically about your sofa, indoor carry-out and dismantling. A free collection arrangement, where available, is not automatically the same scope as a private crew.
Retailer removal with a replacement
Before buying the replacement, ask whether the retailer offers removal, which items qualify and whether collection happens at the same time as delivery. Do not arrange the two appointments on the assumption that one truck does both.
Reuse or donation
If the item is reusable, seek acceptance from the recipient or donation organisation first. Confirm condition requirements and transport; an unwanted or damaged item is not automatically suitable for donation.
A private disposal service
Consider an assessed collection when you need agreed dismantling, indoor carry-out, multiple items, awkward access or coordination with a handover. Send the complete scope for a written quotation and confirmed availability.

You can request indoor carry-out from its current room. Show the route and agree the work in the quote; stairs, long carrying distances and difficult access are assessed separately. Keep shared corridors and escape routes clear.

Photos and an item list are the starting point. If size, condition, fixings or access are unclear, we will ask for more details before confirming the price. For a replacement delivery or urgent job, include your deadline; collection remains subject to confirmed availability.

Do you dispose of sectional and L-shaped sofas?
Yes, subject to photo review. Sectional layout and whether the parts separate cleanly usually affect the manpower plan and carry-out method.
Can you remove a sofa from an upper-floor unit without lift access?
Yes, subject to assessment. Stair carry and route complexity change the labour and timing requirements, so that should be flagged early.
What if the sofa does not fit the lift?
That is one of the main reasons a sofa enquiry moves closer to the bulky-item route. We assess dimensions and access before confirming the quote.
Should I use sofa disposal or furniture disposal?
Use sofa disposal when the enquiry is clearly about the sofa itself. Use furniture disposal when the sofa is part of a broader loose-furniture clear-out.
