How to do packing and moving for a Dining Room
To begin, if you’re using a moving company, communication is critical to ensuring the safety of your belongings. At Move Move Mover, we prefer an onsite inspection so that our moving professionals can catch any items that you may have inadvertently left out of your declaration, but if you’re using another moving company, they must be able to plan your dining room relocation properly. Also, please inform them of how items will be packed and transported, as well as what will need to be stored for a short or long period of time, sold, and so on. It’s also a good idea to notify your neighbors, flatmates, or landlord / building manager of the day and time you intend to have the moving crew arrive.
Draperies and curtains (DIY)
To begin with, curtains, draperies, and other cloth items are simple to pack. Simply fold them lengthwise and stuff them into boxes or empty drawers and cupboards. Other items that are soft, bendable, and unbreakable (such as napkins and tablecloths) can also be packed in the same manner. Fragile items should be packed in appropriately sized and insulated double layer boxes (which we have) and can be further protected by wrapping these cloth items around them in the extra space in the boxes.
Table for Dining Room (DIY)
When moving a dining room table, it’s best to disassemble it as much as possible before attempting to pack it. All of the small parts (screws, bolts, and nuts) fit neatly inside a small, labeled plastic bag. After putting them in the bag, use friendly adhesive tape to secure it to the table so they don’t get lost. However, do not use standard tape directly on wood as it may cause damage or leave a sticky residue that is impossible to remove. Check that the table is clean.
Use corner protectors from a moving supply store or pad the corners of the box with cloth items commonly found in the dining room to add extra protection to the corners. Wrap moving pads around the table and secure them in place. The same thing can be said for your table legs. They can serve as extra protection for your table if they are the correct size. Wrap them in enough layers and keep them on the corners, outside the padding, to help protect your table top.
To move your dining chairs, similarly dismantle them where possible, and wrap them in padding the same way. Any cushions or pillows that may accompany them can be packed in boxes or strong plastic bags (like a garbage bag) for easy carrying.
