Relocating or clearing an office space is rarely a simple “move it from A to B” operation. When the scope involves hundreds of heavy metal cabinets, workstations, and partitions spread across multiple floors, the logistics require meticulous planning and raw manpower.
We recently completed a comprehensive 2-day disposal and internal moving project at Mandai Hill Camp. The scope of work involved clearing multiple units on Level 5 and relocating items to various floors, all without the luxury of a service lift. Here is a breakdown of how we tackled this high-density project.
The project scope was extensive. We were tasked with clearing offices on the fifth floor. The goal was to dismantle and move items either to the Level 1 storeroom, redistribute them to Levels 3 and 4, or dispose of them entirely.
The biggest logistical hurdle? Staircase carries. With items needing to travel from the fifth floor down to the ground level—and no elevator access specified for heavy freight—our team had to rely on physical strength and technique to navigate narrow stairwells with bulky items.

Efficiency was key. As per the client’s instructions, we only dismantled items that could not safely navigate the corridors and stairs, such as large L-shaped tables. Partitions, however, required a different approach.
One of the largest tasks was handling 87 low partitions. These were carefully dismantled on site and, rather than being carried down five flights of stairs immediately, they were moved to the same-level corridor to keep the work area clear and safe for the rest of the operation.

A unique aspect of this job was the waste management system. To avoid cluttering the loading bay and public areas, we implemented a “two-bin” rotation system:
Fill and Rotate: We started Day 1 with two bins. As soon as one bin was filled with scrap wood and broken-down furniture, it was set aside for the next available swap.
Strategic Placement: Only when we ran out of empty bins did we place items on the ground floor, coordinating closely with the client to ensure the (placement location) was approved and did not obstruct traffic.
This 2-day operation at Mandai Hill Camp was a perfect example of how professional moving and disposal services go beyond just lifting boxes. It involved strategic staircase carries, precise furniture dismantling, and intelligent bin management.
For office managers facing an “internal move” or a mass disposal, having a team that understands how to navigate the complexities of stairwells and multi-level logistics is essential to ensure a smooth, efficient transition.
